Track Side Bogie Monitoring System

چکیده

Introduction: Indian Railways at present does not use any automated system for real-time online monitoring of the performance of bogies and wheel-sets. Bogies are checked only during TXR examination for loose or broken parts. Wheel sets are changed when they reach the condemning limit. Problems like skew ness in bogie or asymmetric wheel-wear are attended to during preventive maintenance schedule only. Geometric faults in alignment and tracking of wheel are known to cause premature were as well as abnormal stresses. Re-profiling and replacing worn wheel sets constitutes a significant portion of rolling stock maintenance costs. Misaligned wheel sets are also responsible for increased fuel consumption and accelerated track deterioration. In developed countries state of the art on-line monitoring systems, such as the T/BOGI station, which measures angle of attack (AOA), and tracking position (TP) of each axle of a passing train. AOA and TP parameters combine to provide a planar description of the bogie, which is a distinct signature of a particular bogie that remains stable over time and distance traveled. Other parameters that characterize the performance of bogies, viz. inter-axle misalignment (IAM) and tracking error (TE) etc.

Investigating on the Effects of Random Irregularities of Railway Track by Half-Bogie Model

The vibrations produced by trains include two parts which are deterministic and random vibrations. Due to variation of dynamic loads and patterns of load-time, the random vibration of moving train is one of the most important issues in the field of railway engineering. One of the important sources in producing the train vibrations is rail roughness and irregularities. In this paper, responses o...

A study of an active steering bogie system for the curve negotiation on a sharp curved track

In this paper, analysis for reducing lateral forces is implemented by using a railway vehicle model on a sharp curved track. Also, in order to minimize some problems when a railway vehicle runs on a sharp curved track, an active-steering bogie system is investigated. An active steering bogie system of a railway vehicle is designed to alleviate contact forces and to decrease wear of wheel/rail i...

Effects of the Bogie and Body Inertia on the Nonlinear Wheel-set Hunting Recognized by the Hopf Bifurcation Theory

Nonlinear hunting speeds of railway vehicles running on a tangent track are analytically obtained using Hopf bifurcation theory in this paper. The railway vehicle model consists of nonlinear primary yaw dampers, nonlinear flange contact stiffness as well as the clearance between the wheel flange and rail tread. Linear and nonlinear critical speeds are obtained using Bogoliubov method. A compreh...

Wheelset Condition Monitoring based on pass-by vibration signals

Apart from regular wheel wear such as decreasing wheel diameters and reduced flange thicknesses and heights, wheel flats (WF) and oval wheels (or OOR, Out-Of-Roundness) are the most common wheelset problems for railway vehicles. Within the FP7 Research Project “Saferail”, APT has developed an innovative wheelset monitoring system so-called “Wheel flat and Out of Roundness Monitoring (WORM) syst...
